CIRCLE BAR B DINNER THEATRE presents 2005 Click here for our 2005 Season Players Will Rogers’ A*M*E*R*I*C*A: as adapted by Rich Hoag
April 1st- April 9th More than any other 20th century humorist, Will Rogers enriched the lives and outlook of Americans wherever he went. Few subjects escaped his homespun wit. He was a friend of presidents and laborers, the wealthy and the downtrodden and he never met a man he didn’t like. Veteran actor, Richard Hoag, brings this great American hero to life, capturing his indomitable spirit, his small-town common sense, his moral courage and his irrepressible good humor.
The Face on the Barroom Floor: by Tim Kelly
April 16th-May 28th This is a hilarious slapstick spoof of “Old Time Mellerdrammer”. Cheer the hero, Jack “Toulouse” Goodhart and the heroine, Sweet Madeline and boo the villain Roderick Rodent. Combine this trio with a cast of savory and unsavory characters who include: a gambling women, a distraught music teacher, a tenacious widow, a foolish judge and a pair of dimwitted miners. This is entertainment that brims with sight gags, puns throwaway lines, zany action, classic vaudeville routines and some really terrible ( and very funny) jokes. For an added attraction, meet the lovely saloon girls at dinner and see what they have in store BEFORE the show begins.
Jake’s Women: by Neil Simon
June 3rd-July 10th America’s premier comic playwright makes another hilarious foray into the world of modern relationships. Jake, a novelist who is more successful with fiction than real life, faces a martial crisis by daydreaming about the women in his life. The wildly comic and sometime moving flashbacks are interrupted by visits from actual females. Jakes’ women include a revered first wife who was killed years earlier in an accident, his daughter who is recalled as a child but is now a young woman, his bossy sister, an opinionated analyst, his current wife who is leaving Jake for another man and a prospective third wife. This is one of Simon’s best, full of funny lines and wise cracks a plenty!
I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE: Book and Lyrics by Joe DiPietro Music by Jimmy Roberts Originally Produced in New York by James Hammerstein, Bernie Kukoff and Jonathan Pollard Original Direction by Joel Bishop Directed by: Jim Cook July 22nd-Sept. 4th In a theatrical age of mammoth spectacles and brooding musicals this show is a rollicking throwback to a nearly extinct genre: the musical comedy review. The show takes a hilarious and tuneful joyride through the dizzying spectrum of modern male-female relationships. Act I takes a joyfully satiric look at being single in today’s world and Act II turns its attention to married life. Featuring razor-sharp sketches, a wonderful score and heart to spare, this modern day musical celebrates the never ending battle of the sexes.
The Murder Room: by Jack Sharkey
September 16th-October 30th Murder has never been this funny. A British spoof of all crime thrillers…..it is good clean mirth all the way. The quick, smart, extremely well timed dialogue comes through loud and clear with never a dull moment. There are secret doors, secret identities and just plan secrets to be hidden. A good mixture of Monty Python, Agatha Christie and Abbott and Costello. A zany cast of characters promise to keep you laughing and guessing…..who done it? Click here for our 2005 Season Players
